Game Day - Hair Tutorial - Natural Curls
Meghan - a 4 year dancer with the KU Rock Chalk Dancers and 2 year NBA dancer, walks us through her game day hairstyle routine for her beautiful natural curly hair. How to style naturally curly hair and get her perfect curls for game days!
Meghan danced 4 years for the University of Kansas as a Rock Chalk Dancer and then spent 1 year with the Denver Nuggets Dancers for the 2019/2020 season. She has always had the most gorgeous natural curls that she rocks on game days, so we asked her to walk us through start-finish on how she goes through styling her naturally curly hair.
I just want to go through some tips and tricks that I have learned over the past couple of years - trying to style my hair and all of that! I want to give you all some detail on what I do personally, what I have found works best for me, and pass them along to you!
I have naturally, super curly (sometimes frizzy) hair and with that I have found a couple of products that I really like:

After I get out of the shower I leave my hair pretty damp and apply this Curl Talk Defining Cream. I like to put just a little bit through my hair so that way it kind of helps with the frizz and helps really define those curls. Then I let it air dry for the rest of the time!
The less heat you can put on your hair the better - at least for me! But if you are in a time crunch and you do need to blow-dry your hair (and you have curly hair like me), I always go in with a diffuser! It diffuses the air so that way it is not so harsh on your hair and deflating your curls.
After my hair has completely air dried I go in with my 1-inch curling iron and touch up the top half of my hair a little bit, especially around my face.
A couple other GO-TO products that I really like:
I actually just ran out of the shampoo in this brand but I love the Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Conditioner. I think it really helps with my frizz, defines my curls a little more, and gives my hair the much, much, much needed hydration it needs.
I also use this Not leave-in conditioner spray that I just spray on the ends, especially at night so when I sleep my hair gets that extra moisture it needs.
I also have this Shea Moisure Leave-in Treatment. I just spray a little bit in my hand, rub them together, and then run it through the ends of my hair at night after I put the leave-in conditioner in.
For me, I think it just helps in protecting against getting split ends, helps with my frizz, and helps keeps my curls hydrated!
So this is my go-to game day hairstyle - pretty easy! Again everyone is different, everyone’s hair is different, but this is just what I have found that works for me and works best for my hair.
Feel free to take any of the tips that I have given and let us know how you like it in the comments below!
